It Starts With Family

“If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I’d like to do,

Is to save every day ’til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you.

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do, once you find them

I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go through time with.”

– Jim Croce

Grace, Love, Kindness & Hard Work

Kenneth Perry was a very successful life insurance man. His wife Millie was the best mother and homemaker ever.

If only I could have saved time in a bottle. We miss them terribly but they are with us every day.

We were raised going to church every Sunday. Family celebrations and time with family was so important. We were taught about grace, love, kindness, hard work, and never giving up on our dreams. These family values were a huge part of The Arling becoming a reality.

Dreams Become Reality

In 2002, our daughter Kim was away in college studying architecture. It was there she met Craig, and we were now planning a wedding. It was the phone call that opened a very large door and dream for me. “Mom, I want my wedding reception in a barn.” Well, I had never heard of such but it was important to me to walk with her visions. Their wedding reception was held at my brother Kenny’s golf course in a barn. It was that night, August 23, 2003 that I wanted to retire from my insurance career and find a barn for weddings. Years later, we were blessed to be able to purchase adjoining land to the golf course where a tobacco barn was standing tall.

It was this tobacco barn that became “The Arling”. It is truly my heart. The stories are many. Mom never got to see The Arling but Dad was with us for the grand opening. Our plans for The Arling not only include weddings. Family reunions, proms, class reunions, bridal and baby showers to name a few. I always knew it would also make a wonderful music venue. Our son Marty is our musician and future thoughts, dreams, and ideas are endless. Marty is one of our DJs but he is also very busy performing and is director of golf operations at Kenny Perry’s Country Creek Golf Course. Our four grandchildren have started helping now also. The Arling has truly opened doors for us to share our love of family and celebrations to pass through the generations.

What's In a Name?

“My Pa”. He was my best friend and hero. Pa chewed tobacco. He carried a twist of tobacco in a brown paper bag in his back pocket. He was my inspiration for the name “The Arling, A twist in time”
